Biography
Having completed their schooling, Jon Fojtik and Ryan Waggoner left Michigan for San Francisco, where uncertainty lingered over the best way to apply their musical skills. Guitarist Marwan Kanafani, who had arrived in California from St. Louis, soon crossed their path, and the three formed Fojimoto around a shared enthusiasm for late-night hootenannies. Drawing from 80's alternative alongside personal affinities for jangle pop and country rock, the group opted to divide vocal duties while remaining a trio. After only a brief stretch of cover material, the members began composing original songs and chose to capture their debut album on gear they had bought independently. That effort, Just Now Finding Out, appeared in the summer of 2002.
