Biography
Folk Scat fuses the scat-singing traditions of Lambert, Hendricks And Ross, Bobby McFerrin and Manhattan Transfer with the musical heritage of Bulgaria. The five-piece ensemble, assembled and steered by fiddler, percussionist and vocalist Kiril Todorov, performs the bulk of its material without accompaniment, though light instrumentation colors a handful of selections. Todorov’s classical schooling is offset by the Bulgarian folk foundations carried by soprano vocalists Mariana Vlaeva and Antoaneta Krumova, alto vocalist Diana Georgieva and tenor vocalist Todor Gerdjikov.
