Biography
During the closing years of the 1960s, Bruce Gaston, a youthful American intent on evading conscription, reached the shores of Thailand. Captivated by the sounds of the country, he immersed himself in its musical practices and chose to remain rather than head back home. He joined forces with Boonyong Kethong to establish the instrumental group Fong Naam, now recognized as among the foremost pi-pha ensembles throughout the land. Although grounded in classical roots, the repertoire performed by Fong Naam readily incorporates external elements, as evidenced by their explorations into jazz and rock.
