Biography
Hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, the experimental trio Food Pyramid draws on Krautrock influences while consisting of multi-instrumentalists C. Farstak, C. Hontona, and M. Weather, also known as Chris Farstad, Chris Hontos, and Michael Wethington. The musicians take cues from an array of sources including gamelan, film scores, Latin jazz, and Ash Ra Tempel. Their initial release came in 2010 when they issued I, the opening installment in an intended trilogy, via cassette on the Moonglyph label. December of that same year saw the arrival of II, with III appearing in October 2012. In addition to numerous joint projects and standalone cassette efforts, the outfit produced further formal album recordings such as Mango Sunrise in 2012 and Ecstacy and Refinement in 2013.
