Biography
In 1991, Linx and Ricardo Falcão first crossed paths as classmates in high school, where shared musical ideas prompted them to launch a band together. Miguel Valadares encountered Falcão years afterward at a music school and accepted the offer to become a member. During 1994, Johnny received an invitation despite having never performed on any actual instrument; within fourteen days he was already interpreting pieces by Marillion and Pink Floyd. Nuno Sénica then filled the drum chair, establishing the group’s initial stable lineup of five and marking the true emergence of Forgotten Suns after numerous unsuccessful auditions for other percussionists.
A demo CD was captured and finalized at STS studios in 1998, financed by prize money awarded for taking first place in a contest at UAL university, though the five tracks were laid down under severely limited technical circumstances. The following year the band secured its debut recording contract and completed Fiction Edge I (Ascent). Once the sessions ended, Nuno Sénica chose to depart, with Nelsun Caetano stepping in as replacement, while Miguel Valadares likewise exited to follow separate ambitions.
In subsequent years the group gained exposure on Portuguese late-night television programs, news segments, and international radio playlists, while various music publications hailed Forgotten Suns as one of the most notable newcomers on the domestic progressive-rock landscape.
