Biography
Melbourne-based Fortunes. fuse smooth electro and R&B, with vocalist Conor McCabe and producer Barnaby Matthews at the core. Although the pair first crossed paths back in their native New Zealand, they began collaborating once both had settled in Australia, weaving shared interests in pop, soul, hip-hop, and electronic music into recordings that highlight McCabe’s gritty yet sweet delivery alongside Matthews’ glitchy production. Their first EP, Hoodie, surfaced in early 2015 and quickly built an audience across New Zealand and Australia. A year later they delivered the Jacket EP, then closed out 2016 by joining Future Classic and issuing the single “501’s.” Early in 2017 a remix featuring Dai Burger surfaced, and the same track later appeared on April’s Undress EP.
