Biography
Cilea, active as both composer and music professor, produced the durable Adriana LeCouvreur, his most celebrated opera. Chamber music and songs also figured among his works. He first trained in piano and composition at the Naples Conservatory before pursuing a distinguished teaching career that culminated in leadership of several music conservatories throughout Italy and Sicily.
