Biography
FRANKIIE fuses introspective lyrics with a noir-infused, reverb-drenched aesthetic shaped by surf rock, psychedelia, and 1960s girl groups. The Vancouver ensemble surfaced in the mid-2010s and issued its first full-length album, Forget Your Head, in 2019. On the 2023 release Between Dreams the band sustained its allegiance to classic musical touchstones while confronting present-day uncertainties.
Singer and guitarist Francesca Carbonneau launched the project in 2013, recruiting keyboardist and vocalist Nashlyn Lloyd, bassist Samantha Lankester, and drummer Zoe Fuhr for the initial roster. After cultivating local support through club dates and Canadian festival appearances, the group issued its self-released EP Girl of Infinity in 2015. Once the supporting tour concluded, the members paused activity to explore separate careers and musical endeavors.
Eventually FRANKIIE reconvened to record with producer Jason Corbett of Actors. In 2018 the band supported the Charlatans UK on dates across the United States and Canada, paving the way for Forget Your Head to appear on Paper Bag Records that September. The same vintage surf and psychedelic leanings carried into the follow-up Between Dreams, again produced by Corbett. With Trevör Stöddart taking over drums from Fuhr and Victoria Sieczka assuming bass duties from Lankester, the album reached listeners via Paper Bag in June 2023.
