Biography
Members of the London-based group Freetown each bring long-standing involvement in ska and reggae. Jah Bunny, the drummer, appeared on multiple Studio One releases from the Kingston, Jamaica label, working with Matambi, Franki Paul, Sugar Minott, Lynton Kwesi Johnson, Rico Rodriguez, and ultimately Paul McCartney on the album Reggaebility. Guitarist and vocalist Steve Harris collaborated with Laurel Aitken, while multi-instrumentalist Tony Gethin played in several reggae ensembles across England. The band formed in the late '90s to back Laurel Aitken, after which Beatville Records issued their debut album Painless in 1999.
