Biography
Freewheel came together with an accomplished take on energetic folk and pop, shaped by the sounds of Johnny Cash, Lenny Kravitz, Paul Simon, and Paul McCartney, once the members parted ways with their earlier group, The Excuse. Backed by Vibrafon Records, the band introduced this approach through several singles issued throughout 1997, specifically "Tribute to Lester Young," "Starfriend," and "Sweet Swedish Winter." A self-supported run of dates across their home country of Sweden helped build momentum, leading to the arrival of their debut full-length album, Starfriend, in 1998.
