Blending textures from alternative metal with post-grunge and hard rock atmospheres, Fromunda forge distinctive and forceful ideas inside rock & roll. Drawing from groups like Soulfly and Alice in Chains, the trio elects to craft its own conceptual strain of alternative metal. The band came together in Ithaca, NY, during 1997, featuring Mike Gracen on guitar and vocals, Stefan Brownell on bass, and Dan Maclean on drums. After twelve months of preparation the New York unit issued an initial self-titled demo recording that stirred early interest in its material. Brett Fuentes entered as lead singer in 1999, the same year the group’s first full-length album, titled Fromunda, reached retail outlets. Their follow-up, Four Days Under the Gun, arrived in 2000, after which the members paused activity for several months. Returning from that break in June 2001, Fromunda resumed with multiple live performances.
