Biography
Around the commanding vocals of Ani Kyd, the grunge-inflected Vancouver metal group Fuel Injected .45 took shape in 2002. Former Thor guitarist Kyd launched the project with Ashley Blue, Stuart Carruthers, Byron Stroud, and Scotty McCargar. Although the five-piece maintained a steady schedule of club dates, the lineup dissolved within a few years without completing a studio album. In 2005 Kyd supplied vocals for Approach the Throne while issuing her solo debut, Evil Needs Candy Too, on Alternative Tentacles. Kyd revived Fuel Injected .45 in 2009, reuniting with original guitarist Ashley Blue and recruiting bassist Noel Tait, and revealed plans to record the next album for Alternative Tentacles. Before that project reached completion, the label issued the band’s early demos in 2011 as the aptly named compilation Past Demo-Ns.
