Biography
The members of Fun With Atoms—Rick Smith on vocals and guitar, Dan Collins on bass, and Curt Lefevre on drums—came together after enduring countless cold days in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where they would huddle in garages to rehearse. Emulating the Midwestern power-pop style of acts such as Cheap Trick and Husker Du, the group delivered its own guitar hooks and vocal harmonies to audiences across the state. Butch Vig produced the band’s debut album, Main Street, released in 1993 by Boat Records, gaining experience that later served him in sessions with the Smashing Pumpkins and Nirvana. In 1996 Black Vinyl Records issued the follow-up, Northern Distortion.
