Biography
Emerging from the Cali Bay Area, rapper Mac Shawn fronted Funk Mobb, the fleeting Sick Wid It act that managed to issue only one album, It Ain't 4 Play (1996). During that period Sick Wid It ranked among the more visible rap imprints, thanks to its Priority distribution arrangement and roster mates that included E-40 and the Click. Even with those ties to Sick Wid It and Priority, the trio—completed by G-Note and K-1—failed to register meaningful impact. Shawn therefore pursued a solo route that opened with Music fo the Mobb (1997) before he aligned with the fast-fading Death Row Records, leaving his former partners to recede from notice.
