Biography
Formed in Germany by Jens Kastel handling vocals and Gerrit Thomas on programming, the electronic body music project Funker Vogt adopted its name from a radio-operator acquaintance while pursuing a sharper, more forceful sound supported by refreshed electronics. Multiple compilations across their homeland showcased the duo ahead of the 1996 arrival of their opening album, Thanks for Nothing. Two restricted EPs, Words of Power and Take Care, preceded a U.S. contract with Metropolis Records, which then reissued the debut and issued the successor We Came to Kill in late 1997. Kastel and Thomas additionally supplied remixes for Leæther Strip’s Yes, I’m Limited, Vol. 2, before resurfacing in mid-2000 with Maschine Zeit; T. followed in early 2001.
