Biography
Future Pigeon operates as a collective rooted in Los Angeles, drawing members that include Jason Mason, Brandon Wells, Danny Preston, Jeff Cairns, and Grant Vanderslice from Wiskey Biscuit, alongside Dave Scher, known as "Farmer Dave" of Beachwood Sparks, and Eddie Ruscha, Jr., who performs under the alias "the Dungeonmaster" and previously contributed to Dada Munchamonkey, Maids of Gravity, and Radar Bros. The ensemble fuses reggae and dub traditions—drawing from Lee "Scratch" Perry, King Tubby, and similar sources—with rustic, country-tinged rock textures to produce an explosive sound. Onstage the band delivers euphoric, often exploratory sets that place additional players amid arrays of guitars, basses, pedal steel, multiple turntables, keyboards, samplers, and further gear. They have shared bills with pioneering British dub producer Adrian Sherwood and Scientist (Hopeton "Scientist" Brown). The outfit issued its first full-length recording, Golden State of Dub, in 2001 through the L.A.-based Shipwrecords imprint run by Wiskey Biscuit. Four years later the follow-up The Echodelic Sounds of Future Pigeon paired the group with Ranking Joe and Mikey Dread.
