Born George Pallikaris, G-Pal passed his early years in Northern Greece laboring over a synthesizer in an effort to emulate Vangelis’s classical electronic works, yet found salvation through an adolescent encounter with the nascent rave sounds emerging then. Following his high school completion, he moved to New York City, where he started testing his hand at self-production; within a year of pitching these efforts, his dynamic and intelligent tech-house secured placements with imprints including Low Pressings and Intrinsic Design, along with prominent outlets such as Bedrock and Plastic City. Preparation for his inaugural full-length album Life, ultimately released in 2000, commenced during the final months of 1999. Entirely composed of previously unheard tracks, the LP stemmed from Pallikaris’s extended concern over contributing to the flood of dance music releases that favored compiling individual singles rather than maintaining cohesive album structure.
