Biography
Within the United Kingdom, Gabrielle Drake has earned recognition as a skilled performer, above all through her appearances across multiple television productions, although she has also taken roles in cinema and on the stage. Beyond those shores her name is perhaps most readily linked to her position as the elder sibling of British folk-rock singer/songwriter Nick Drake, whose devoted following has grown substantially since his passing in 1974. In preserving her brother’s artistic estate, she has lent her efforts to the preparation of posthumous audio and film projects drawn from Nick’s archives. On an informal home recording made by Nick shortly before he launched his official discography, she joined him for a duet of the traditional folk piece “All My Trials.” After years of circulation among unofficial copies, the performance received its authorized release in 2007 on the Nick Drake anthology Family Tree.
