Biography
Born to parents who ran a pair of music stores, Garin Bader spent his earliest years immersed in instruments and nonstop sound. By seven he had already begun experimenting with an array of instruments, driven by the same fierce appetite for musical mastery that fueled parallel passions for cartooning, martial arts, and sleight-of-hand magic. He later narrowed his efforts to the piano, committing as many as twelve hours daily to practice. Several major competitions fell to him, after which he spent years concertizing abroad and captured his own pieces on the albums One Heart’s Journey, La Serenade, and Romancing the Piano. Blending his enthusiasms for magic, martial arts, and keyboard performance, he created the stage spectacle Musical Magic, where classical and pop standards are reinterpreted at the piano amid magic illusions and martial-arts-inflected choreography. Health and fitness also claimed his attention; he designed a core strength-training regimen and instructed others in its methods. ~ Fred Thomas
