Biography
A native of Detroit, Garry Glenn possessed multiple talents as a songwriter, vocalist, and keyboard player. In his teenage years he joined tours with his sibling Beverly Glenn, a gospel singer, before redirecting his energies to composition during the 1980s and supplying material to the Emotions, Earth, Wind & Fire, Freddie Jackson, Eddie Kendricks, and the Dramatics, along with additional artists. Anita Baker cut his probably best-known song, “Caught in the Rapture,” after which Glenn spent time as a touring keyboardist in her band, a role he likewise filled for Billy Ocean. The self-titled debut album Garry Glenn appeared in 1980; his follow-up, Feels Good to Feel Good, arrived on Motown Records in 1987. Garry Glenn died on September 18, 1991.
