Biography
Gary Frenay crafts light pop songs with primary influences drawn from Carole King, James Taylor, Jimmy Webb, and the Beatles. He launched his professional path in the late '70s by co-founding the Syracuse-based new wave group the Flashcubes. That ensemble achieved a minor hit through "Christi Girl" before shifting identity to the more contemporary Screen Test, the pop band that secured MTV video airplay for Frenay's track "You Don't Know Me." Once Screen Test disbanded, Frenay completed a brief tenure alongside the Neverly Brothers. The singer/songwriter/guitarist has pursued an independent solo career since 1991. He joined Tangible Records in 1995, issuing the acoustic pop album Armory Square. His second solo project, the more ambitiously produced Jigsaw People, followed in 1996.
