Biography
Gaskin came together during the closing years of the 1970s in Scunthorpe, England, with Paul Gaskin handling vocals and guitar as the central figure alongside bassist Stef Prokopczuk and drummer Dave Norman. Though grouped among the many acts of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, the group shifted over time from a metal sound infused with punk elements to a melodic hard rock approach reminiscent of Def Leppard and Praying Mantis. They put out their debut album, End of the World, in 1981 through the independent label Rondolet Records and subsequently embarked on a tour throughout the United Kingdom. Ahead of the release of No Way Out the next year, which introduced Baggy on bass, Brent Spencer joined as the permanent lead singer. Poor sales of both albums led the band to disband in 1983.
