Biography
Gayngs, an atmospheric dance-pop collective fixated on a 69-bpm pulse, produce meticulously shaped electro-indie tracks laced with R&B influences and rooted in the sleek yet eccentric English art-rock approach of 10cc. Minneapolis producer and songwriter Ryan Olson launched the project in 2008 alongside Solid Gold’s Jack Coulter and Adam Hurlburt, yet the lineup quickly ballooned well beyond a trio as more than 25 musicians took part, among them Megafun’s Joe Westerlund, Brad Cook, and Phil Cook from North Carolina, the Rosebuds’ Ivan Howard, Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and Mike Noyce, and Rhymesayers rapper P.O.S. Their debut album, Relayted, appeared in 2010 on Jagjaguwar Records.
