Biography
Formed in Nashville during 1984, the anthemic CCM outfit Geoff Moore and the Distance issued its debut album Pure and Simple. In its best-known lineup, guitarist Roscoe Meek, bassist Gary Mullett, keyboardist Geof Barkley and drummer Chuck Conner rounded out the ensemble, which returned in 1986 with Over the Edge and followed that release with The Distance the next year. Moore moved to Sparrow for the 1988 album A Place to Stand; after Foundations appeared in 1989 he switched to ForeFront, where Friend Like U arrived in 1992. Evolution surfaced the subsequent year and Home Run came out in 1995. Following the 1996 compilation Greatest Hits, the band delivered Threads. The 1999 release Geoff Moore marked the singer/songwriter’s initial solo project.
