Born in 1951, Geoff Whitehorn took up the guitar at age eleven. His first serious group, If, came together in 1973, followed the next year by the solo album Whitehorn. A 1975 tour with Maggie Bell preceded his 1976 entry into Back Street Crawler, later shortened to Crawler, an affiliation that lasted until the band split in 1979. From there he moved to the Shortlist, spending 1979 through 1988 and cutting ten albums during that stretch. The year 1990 brought his second solo release, Geoff Who, as well as a one-year stint in Bad Company. Subsequent work with Procol Harum left room for further activity, including the 1994 solo album Big in Gravesend and a concurrent project with Roger Daltrey. Ongoing performances with Paul Rodgers that date back to 1974, several albums recorded with Roger Chapman, and a 1996 show alongside the Who illustrate the breadth of his schedule.
