Biography
Among enthusiasts who argue over their favorite Beatle, George Is Lord formed as a group devoted to the Quiet Beatle, George Harrison. Drawn from the Los Angeles indie rock scene, the friends and fans perform only Harrison compositions, whether from his Beatles years or his later solo work, reshaping those melodies into lean yet bright folk-tinged sets that mix self-aware innocence with open-hearted energy. What began as a casual gathering of acquaintances soon turned into a public quartet whose first full-length recording, My Sweet George, appeared through Curation Records in April 2022.
The project took shape after Los Angeles interior designer Anna Pomerantz found herself with free time and resolved to learn drums. She approached Lindsay Glover, formerly the drummer for Wiskey Biscuit and Future Pigeon, who consented on the condition that she instruct him on guitar. Their regular sessions soon included Glover’s suggestion that they tackle the Beatles standard “Something.” Although Pomerantz had never cared for the Fab Four, she enjoyed playing the track, prompting Glover to share additional Harrison songs. Before long she had become a devoted Harrison admirer. Once they felt ready, the pair added Cody Porter of Puro Instinct on bass. By then Pomerantz had assumed vocal duties alongside her drumming, and the need for a lead guitarist led them to Sam Blasucci of Mapache. Producer Jason Quever took notice of the foursome and agreed to collaborate, resulting in the April 2022 release of My Sweet George on Curation Records.
