Biography
George Porter, Jr., the New Orleans R&B bassist, joined Art Neville, Leo Nocentelli and Zigaboo Modeliste to establish the Meters, the city’s leading funk ensemble throughout the 1960s and 1970s. He stayed sought after for session work across subsequent decades, and his 1990 Rounder release Runnin’ Partner revealed the breadth of his musical range. Following a five-year break he resurfaced with Things Ain’t What They Used to Be, after which Funk This appeared in 1997.
