Biography
Before issuing their debut single in 2007, the London-based group Ghosts had previously recorded under the name Polanski, putting out a few limited-run singles. Jonny Harris on drums, Simon Pettigrew on vocals and guitar, bassist Robbie Smith, and keyboardist Mark Treasure adopted the Ghosts moniker; after signing with Atlantic, the four members crafted most of the songs for their first album, 2007's generally light and upbeat The World Is Outside, during an extended stay at a Swedish cottage. Little more than a month following the record's release, the band secured the opening slot for Keane at London's O2 Arena, their largest show up to that point.
