Florida-born Gigi DeNisco, working as a singer, songwriter, and acoustic guitarist, has generated considerable impact across the rock landscape well beyond her coastal origins in the southern United States. Her engagement with guitar began in childhood, after which she received formal classical training on piano. Studies at Miami Dade Community College led to an Associate Music Degree, after which she advanced her work into professional territory. In 1995 she entered Middle Ear Studio, owned by the Bee Gees, to record her debut release, appropriately called On My Way. Tracks featured on that solo project include “The Night Spells Danger” and “Here Comes the Rain,” and the album secured two Billboard songwriting awards for “I Belong with You” and “Mystic Tune.” Over the course of her career DeNisco has opened for established artists such as Boz Scaggs, Stevie Nicks, Albert King, and Willie Nelson. Her recordings have received attention in outlets including Jam and the Miami New Times, the latter of which named her Best Female Rock Vocalist. In 2000 she presented her second album, Winds of Dreams, to listeners. Between studio sessions she maintains an active touring schedule, appearing in clubs either unaccompanied with guitar and voice or backed by her band.
