Biography
Gilles Valiquette built an extensive career in music as a guitarist, singer/songwriter, and flutist. He entered the professional sphere around 1967 while still a teenager, appearing with Seguin, Someone, Jacques Michel, and the duet of Liette and Francois. Shifting focus to solo work, he issued numerous albums both independently and in collaboration with others across the following three decades.
Born in Montreal, Canada, in 1952, Valiquette released his first solo album, Chansons Pour un Café, in 1972. Additional solo projects appeared throughout the 1970s, among them Second Stop, Evenings of Autumn, Valiquette East Downtown, and Night Flight. Solo output slowed to roughly four further recordings during the 1980s and 1990s, yet his music retained steady popularity. He also contributed to albums by other artists and toured throughout Canada, Europe, and the United States.
Listeners encounter tracks such as "Drizzle of Autumn," "Another Time," "For Three Dollars," "You Broke My Heart," "Spring," "For Eternity," and "Tell Him Hello" across his albums.
