Gina Alice

Korean-German pianist Gina Alice Redlinger first gained widespread attention through her marriage to superstar Lang Lang, an association that has often eclipsed her own substantial talents. Comfortable across classical, crossover, and jazz idioms, she issued her debut album, Wonderworld, in 2022.

Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, in 1994, Redlinger began piano studies at age four under Irina Edelstein, a professor at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt. She later enrolled at the same academy, where her teachers included Lev Natochenny and Bernhard Wetz, and she subsequently received instruction from László Simon, Klaus Hellwig, and Gary Graffman. She completed her training as a graduate of the Hamburg University of Music. Redlinger made her first public appearances at age eight, creating a stir that year by performing Haydn's Keyboard Concerto No. 11 in D Major during a Steinway concert. At thirteen she appeared on national television, interpreting Mendelssohn's Piano Concerto No. 1 in G Minor with the Berlin National Youth Symphony Orchestra. Following her debut solo recital at fifteen, she performed on multiple occasions with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, presenting works by Mendelssohn and Rachmaninov.

Redlinger first encountered Lang Lang in Berlin during her early twenties. The couple became secretly engaged and wed in Paris in 2019, celebrating with a lavish reception at the Palace of Versailles. After the wedding she relocated with him to China; a dedicated linguist, she speaks fluent German, Korean, English, French, and Chinese. In 2021 the pair announced the arrival of their first child, a boy. Her debut album, Wonderworld, appeared on Deutsche Grammophon in 2022 and featured an eclectic selection of soothing repertoire spanning Western and Chinese classical music, jazz, film scores, and Korean traditional lullabies.
