Born in New York in 1920 to Gino Marinuzzi (1882-1945), one of Italy’s most renowned conductors and a composer of some significance as well, he completed his studies in Milan. Early in his career he moved away from conducting to concentrate on original scores for Italian radio and cinema, and by the mid-’50s he had formed a serious commitment to electronic music. He supplied music for such varied directors as Jean Renoir and Mario Bava while also assisting in the invention of the Fonosynth 2, a pivotal instrument in the field.
