Jangle pop outfit Girls Say Yes operates under the direction of Jim Huie, whose duties encompass drumming, vocals, and songwriting while relying on a constantly shifting roster of supporting players in the same spirit as Anton Fier’s Golden Palominos. Before forming the group, Huie served in Russ Tolman’s touring ensemble, and Tolman later contributed to the band’s debut album, To Boys Who Say No. Recorded across several years, that record appeared on Paisley Pop in early 2001. Further guests on the sessions were Mitch Easter, Richard McGrath of True West, Bobby Sutliff from the Windbreakers, and Steve Almaas, previously of Comsat Angels and Beat Rodeo, together with additional musicians.
