Biography
A classic Italian rock trio whose Hammond-driven approach inevitably evoked the Nice and Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Gli Alluminogeni took their name directly from keyboardist Patrizio Alluminio. The group first attracted attention through four singles released on the Fonit imprint between 1970 and 1971: "L'alba di Bremit" b/w "Orizzonti Lontani," "Dimensione Prima" b/w "La Vita e L'amore," "Solo un Attimo" b/w "Psicosi," and "Troglomen" b/w "Costruendo Astronavi." Recording of their debut album began in 1971, yielding an ambitious collection anchored by the seven-minute pieces "La Natura e L'universo" and "Thrilling" yet still incorporating several concise, traditional tracks that echoed the band's earlier work. Positive notices for 1972's Scolopendra aligned it with Vanilla Fudge and Procol Harum in addition to the expected reference points, though the trio disbanded just prior to the LP's appearance. They reunited circa 1992.
