Biography
Elizabeth Le Fey, the Olympia, Washington-based singer/songwriter, fronts the solo endeavor known as Globelamp. Her dreamy and poetic material draws from psychedelic folk alongside glam rock and ’90s grunge while retaining a distinctly Northwestern lo-fi indie character. Born in California, she started composing songs and playing small venues in 2010. Following her relocation to Olympia, she joined the cat-obsessed indie punks Meowtain, whose self-titled album appeared in 2012. That same year she also toured with Foxygen as a member and entered a relationship with co-founder Sam France. Personal disputes with the band led to her dismissal in 2013, after which she published a blog post detailing the internal conflicts and prompting fans to assume Foxygen had disbanded. Globelamp’s debut album, Star Dust—entirely written by Le Fey and including musical contributions from France—came out on Gazelle Recordings in 2014. The Orange Glow followed, first issued on cassette in 2015 via Psychedelic Thriftstore Recordings/Lolipop Records and later given a wider release in 2016 through Wichita Recordings.
