Gloria

Originally conceived in the studio by guitarist Kid Victrola—previously a member of Slow Joe & the Ginger Accident and Deborah Kant—the French psych-pop group Gloria formed around a standard guitar-bass-drums-keys setup augmented by vocalists Amy, Baby B, and Wendy. Their intended aesthetic fused the hallucinatory swirl of girl-group psychedelia with the gritty propulsion associated with the Rolling Stones. An alliance with French garage-psych imprint Howlin' Banana yielded the band's debut album, In Excelsis Stereo, in late 2016. That record drew notice from psych and garage listeners, spurring live appearances that continued through 2017. In the course of those activities the band aligned with Ample Play Records, resulting in the joint 2018 release of the six-song EP Oîdophon Echorama on both Ample Play and Howlin' Banana.
