Biography
In the late 1990s the foundational lineup of Little Rock, Arkansas band Go Fast assembled when Scott Diffie took lead guitar and vocals, Matt Floyd handled bass, and Trey Baker sat behind the drums. The three musicians quickly built a following throughout the region. Their profile rose further once guitarist Kevin Kerby—already fronting his own group Mulehead—joined the lineup. An Arkansas rock station’s airplay soon secured them an opening slot for Lynryd Skynyrd, which in turn prompted HTS Recordings to offer a contract. Their debut album, Great American Get Down, was tracked across a single weekend in October 1999 and issued the next year; famed artist Ed “Big Daddy” Roth supplied the cover painting.
Kerby exited shortly afterward to focus on Mulehead and was succeeded by Shannon Yarbrough. Yarbrough’s own departure soon followed, leaving the original three members to continue as a trio. They kept up regional touring while starting work on a second album in 2001.
