Biography
The San Francisco quartet Go Van Gogh, whose sound drew from improv jazz, Middle Eastern folk, and funk, acquired the critical designation “gypsies on acid.” Their deployment of dual saxophones and a violinist introduced an additional classical-folk strain that shaped the group’s identity and ultimately prompted a signing with Accretions Records. In 1995 the band issued its debut full-length album under the name Go Van Gogh.
