Biography
After his band Expanding Man broke up in the closing years of the 1990s, singer and songwriter Aaron Lippert allowed several years to pass before stepping forward again as frontman of Godboxer. Drummer Mike Levesque, bassist Joe McMahon, and guitarist Jay Barclay completed the lineup, enabling Lippert to resume live appearances in 2002 at clubs throughout his native Boston area as well as at that year’s NeMO Showcase; the group quickly earned a nomination for Outstanding New Rock Band at the 2002 Boston Music Awards. Godboxer then released its debut EP, Pins, in early 2003 on the small Rubirosa imprint, delivering a soaring power pop sound in the tradition of Cheap Trick.
