Biography
Beyond his accomplishments in visual art, Stefan Altenburger extended his creative output into electro-techno under the name Golden Boy. The Swiss creator gained sudden prominence through his partnership with the distinctive vocalist Miss Kittin, whose contributions shaped the Or album. That connection secured a swift release across both Europe and North America via Emperor Norton, the same imprint that had issued Miss Kittin and the Hacker’s first full-length project.
Long based in Zurich, Altenburger initially earned acclaim for his visual work, receiving the Swiss Federal Prize for Design in 1991 and the Swiss Federal Prize for the Arts in 1993. His exhibitions toured internationally, leading to features in numerous European periodicals. Alongside his design and photography practice, he also turned to electronic dance music during the 1990s under the aliases Klettermax and Golden Boy. Source Records put out his self-titled Klettermax EP in 1998, while the 2002 Golden Boy album included vocal appearances by Miss Kittin, already notorious for her collaborations with the Hacker and Felix da Housecat.
