Golden Browne unites the production trio Columbia Nights with singer/songwriter Jenna Camille under a progressive R&B banner. The Washington, D.C.-based collective first appeared in 2020. The following year, after several singles and one EP, the group delivered its self-titled album, whose sound balanced mellow tones with stimulating textures.

Each of the four participants remains deeply engaged in the D.C. music scene. Columbia Nights consists of John E. Daise, Hayling Price, and Jason "BrotherSpanky" Edwards, who have released the Dawn | Dusk EP, the In All Things LP, and assorted standalone tracks under that moniker. Atlanta-born and Maryland-raised Jenna Camille, who also works as a pianist and producer, has pursued music since childhood. She trained in D.C. at the New Sewell Conservatory and the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, then continued with jazz studies at Michigan State University and the University of the District of Columbia. Ahead of her partnership with Columbia Nights, she appeared on recordings that include the Peter Ricardo collaboration This Is What I'm Going Through as well as several singles such as "Love Me Right" with the Other Guys. In March 2020, Camille, Daise, Price, and Edwards independently issued Golden Browne’s debut single, the crisp hip-hop soul track "Get Down," and closed the year with the distinctive Bright Moments set, which comprised fifteen one-minute pieces. The act joined the Hipnott Records roster in 2021 via the singles "We Come in Peace," "My Mama Said," "Erasure," and "Something," which preceded the September arrival of the full-length Golden Browne.
