Biography
Formed as a hardcore punk quartet, Golpe de Estado rose to prominence among Costa Rican acts in that style by addressing pertinent social matters affecting the nation’s youth through their music. The Escándalo festival, translating to Scandal in English, emerged as a platform dedicated to showcasing homegrown punk rock and ska acts. Participation in this event allowed groups including Skartel, La Familia Bastarda, and Golpe de Estado to engage more deeply with the local rock community. On their own, the quartet put out a debut record bearing their name, which incorporated both studio originals and captured live renditions.
