Emerging from the remnants of The Boy Wonder Jinx, the Raleigh trio launched recording sessions in 2001 to prepare its first album. Drawing on fragments of his early years, singer and songwriter Scott Phillips folded those memories into the group’s songwriting while tracking everything in his basement on a 4-track. Goner issued its debut album, Dollar Movie, through Eskimo Kiss Records in 2002. The band has since performed across the Eastern United States and earned comparisons to Matthew Sweet, Squeeze, and The DBs, among others. New songs have been written and recorded for a second album slated for release in 2003.
