Biography
Emerging from the Åland Islands, the alternative rock group Good Evening Manchester remained active across the latter half of the 1980s and into the first years of the 1990s. Their first recordings appeared in 1986, when the quartet of guitarists and vocalists Patrik Dahlblom and Anders Korpi, drummer Niklas Dahlblom, and bassist Hans-Erik Ramström issued a self-titled EP on the modest Kustrock imprint. The band then moved to the major domestic label CBS, at which point their lyrics shifted from Swedish to English. Their debut album, Learning to Sing, arrived in 1988. Three years afterward they resurfaced on EMI’s Parlophone division, issuing a 1991 self-titled second album that replaced Korpi with Ciàran O'Reilly and added guitarist Peter Hägerstrand, before concluding their run with the 1993 release Diana.
