In the landscape of current pop and R&B, few vocal ensembles sustain a viable commercial profile the way the Los Angeles quartet Good Girl does, evoking the lineage of TLC, Xscape, and Destiny's Child through its assured output. Arielle, Bobbie, JL Bunny, and Megan Nicolle, who function as both vocalists and dancers, first shared a stage in 2013 after future manager Dyshon Penn chose them to deliver material associated with En Vogue and TLC. The enthusiastic reception prompted the four to formalize their partnership as a group, preserving a nostalgic tone on their debut EP, '90s Kind of Love, issued the next year. Visibility rose sharply in 2016 with the release of the follow-up EP Goodie (The Appetizer), which registered on Billboard's Next Big Sound chart, and with their participation in the eleventh season of America's Got Talent. Though eliminated after week three, they maintained a steady schedule of recordings and performances, concluding the decade with the 2018 single "I Can Be Yours" and the 2019 release "Misery." Output expanded further in 2020, encompassing the singles "Thirsty," which featured a guest verse from Mulatto, "Don't Talk Back," and "Face."
