Bronx-born Will Johnson, a musician and fashion journalist, crafts smirking electro-funk under the Gordon Voidwell moniker. His work draws heavily from the 1983 pop era coinciding with his birth, as evidenced by the single "Ivy League Circus," which updated the polished hooks and grooves associated with Prince and the Talking Heads while echoing the comedic sensibility of Das Racist—the duo that frequently befriended and collaborated with Voidwell. Fashion icon Ralph Lauren, another well-known associate, facilitated key opportunities for the singer, resulting in the debut track’s release via Cantora Records shortly before a nationwide tour in support of Mayer Hawthorne.
