Biography
In 1974 two veteran gospel artists, Michael Moore and Gary Luttrell, launched the American Christian music project Gospel Seed. The pair soon set out on national tours, delivering sets of acoustic pop and gospel at coffee houses, schools, and prisons, which quickly led to guest spots on programs such as The 700 Club and The PTL Club. Their arrangements combined autoharp with acoustic guitar and leaned on the refined vocal harmonies the duo had developed by the late 1970s. Most lyrics carried an unmistakably evangelical thrust; Moore remarked to one periodical, “Our message in songs is geared to exhort and challenge Christians, as well as to show unbelievers their need for a saviour.” Their first Myrrh Records album, Growing, therefore offered little appeal to anyone not already fully devoted to Christian music.
