Biography
Emerging from Sweden as a little-known outfit steeped in the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, particularly the output of Iron Maiden, Gotham City issued a pair of independent albums during the mid-eighties. Black Writs appeared in 1983 and The Unknown followed in 1984, both of which have since grown exceptionally scarce yet prized by collectors. Guitarist Marten Edlund, bassist Bjorn-Erik Melander, and drummer Jonas Ostman, who would later spend a brief stint with Yngwie Malmsteen, formed the core lineup on each release; vocalist Ola Ohlsson appeared on the first, while future Nocturnal Rites frontman Anders Zackrisson joined for the second.
