Hailing from Los Angeles, Grace McKagan fronted the Pink Slips, a group that twisted synth pop through a punk lens, before stepping out on her own with a garage-tinged mix of indie, punk, and hard rock that first surfaced on her initial solo release, the 2020 single “Surrender.” Two years afterward she issued her debut EP, the reflective Heart of Hearts.

Born and raised in Los Angeles as the daughter of Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan and model Susan Holmes, McKagan grew up attending concerts nearly every week. While still a teenager she formed the synth pop/punk outfit the Pink Slips in 2013; the band put out its first EP, Say L’or Venus, in August 2014 and continued releasing occasional singles until it dissolved. She returned in December 2020 with the solo track “Surrender,” which leaned further into garage punk yet retained a polished, studio-crafted indie-rock aesthetic. Exactly twenty-four months later she released the Heart of Hearts EP, which featured the track “K-Town,” a collaboration with Eagles of Death Metal and Boots Electric.
