Listen on Coda
As a guitarist, vocalist, and composer working in the country-blues idiom, Grant Livingston creates music that reaches listeners at every stage of life, from toddlers taking their first steps to seniors still moving about. His compositions frequently highlight his narrative abilities, with lyrics that convey details about the natural world or events from Florida’s past, the state where he was raised. He also performs occasional pieces dating back to around 1900.

In the early 1980s he issued two albums that have since become unavailable. His third release, Florida Rain, appeared in 1988. Nearly ten years passed before The One that Got Away came out, followed in 2001 by Let Me off the Leash. Among the tracks featured across his recordings are “Life on the Freeway,” “Pointy Side Up,” “Don’t Bother Jack,” “Martha Knows,” “Pack Light,” “Mister Moon,” and “Two of Hearts.” Each number is engaging, and many lean toward humor. Outside the studio and the writing process, Livingston performs regularly at festivals and coffeehouses.
